Bully Free Friends (BFFs)

Bully Free Friends (BFFs) is The ME Project's newest program for middle and high school aged youth who have experienced bullying. BFFs provides a safe, bully free zone for socialization, peer support, and education. To find out more about BFFs, please read the article below.

The first monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, September 28th from 7:00 to 8:30pm in room 171 of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (200 Yale Avenue, Morton, PA).

Please RSVP to Francesca at francesca@meproject.org, if possible.

The next meetings are scheduled for October 26th and November 30th at the same place and time.
We hope to expand to include a meeting for parents of bullied youth at the same time.

Introducing a New Program - BFFs

Thanks to Delaware County's MYLIFE initiative, The ME Project was able to connect with an inspirational local young woman - Kate Fisher.

At just eighteen-years-old, Kate is determined to start up a conversation about an extremely important topic - bullying. Bullying became an issue for Kate in kindergarten when she was often ridiculed for displaying symptoms of separation anxiety. Kate's bullying continued all the way through her graduation from Interboro High School this past June and even forced her to switch schools five times.

Kate explains, "When you're being bullied, you really think you are alone. I want other kids to realize they're not alone. " Kate sees tremendous value in providing a safe place where teens can feel comfortable being themselves without fear of being bullied. The ME Project is excited to collaborate with Kate to create the BFFs (Bully Free Friends) program with support from the Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 28th from 7:00 to 8:30pm in Room 171 of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit at 200 Yale Avenue in Morton. All middle and high school aged youth are invited to attend. If possible, please RSVP to Francesca at francesca@meproject.org.

Kate is also aware of the toll her bullying took on her mother and their relationship. We plan to expand the group in the future to simultaneously provide a meeting for parents of bullied youth. Future meetings are scheduled for October 26th and November 30th at the same time and location.

Note: These meetings are NOT group therapy sessions, but rather opportunities for peer support, socialization, and education. A crisis services directory from the county will be available if someone requires additional support.
